MultiChoice Nigeria today presented a slate of new shows, series, and other content offerings coming to its DStv, GOtv, and Showmax platforms in the run-up to the Christmas season and far into 2022. The material was unveiled at the 2021 MultiChoice Showcase event on Thursday, October 21, 2021.
Busola Tejumola, Executive Head, Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, spoke at the event alongside other company executives and partner channel managers about the new shows coming to Africa Magic Showcase, Urban and Family, as well as those coming to Akwaaba Magic for the remainder of the year and the first quarter of 2022. Additionally, she revealed that a channel will feature live festivals and events from around West Africa.
Tope Oshunkeye, MultiChoice Nigeria’s Head of Marketing, also announced the launch of a new DStv show named ‘CRIS’ (Content Recommended Intelligence System). The program will be operated using a remote control button that will propose shows to viewers depending on other material they are presently watching or their viewing habits. This will be supported by high-definition decoders. Additionally, Oshunkeye announced the launch of a fresh new GOtv bundle that would provide subscribers with access to additional fascinating channels. The ‘GOtv SUPA’ bundle will be available on Monday, 1 November 2021 for N5,500. It will include additional channels such as ROK, Honey TV, Nick Jr., Africa Magic Urban, and WWE, among others.
John Ugbe, Chief Executive Officer, MultiChoice Nigeria, also spoke at the occasion, reiterating MultiChoice’s commitment to making services more accessible. “At MultiChoice, our consumers are central to everything we do, and while we take pleasure in being the nation’s premier entertainment platform,” he explained. This explains our purposeful move toward more convenient and responsive digital choices. DStv online is a mobile-based service that provides the same package options as a traditional DStv subscription. It increases accessibility to entertainment by allowing you to watch and catch up on your favorite shows on the move”.
Several partner channel administrators also discussed upcoming shows on their networks. POP Central TV will feature series such as ‘The Rush,’ ‘Uncut with Bamteddy,’ and ‘Phenomenally,’ among others. Customers may also look forward to the finest entertainment on MTV Base, BET Africa, and Nickelodeon, all of which are owned by the ViacomCBS group. The ‘Soul Train Award’ will be shown live on BET, while the ‘Video Music Awards will be broadcast live on MTV. Additionally, series such as ‘Inside Life With Erica’ on MTV Base and ‘Isono’ on BET Africa will return for a second season.
Additionally, brand new shows will debut this month and early next year on MultiChoice’s on-demand video platform, Showmax. ‘Ghana Jollof,’ Showmax’s first Nigerian-produced comedy series, will launch on Friday, 22 October 2021, while ‘The Real Housewives of Lagos,’ will debut in January 2022. Next year will also see the return of ‘The Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards.
The majority of these new series, such as ‘Dilemma,’ ‘Venge,’ and ‘Mercy, What Next?’ has already begun airing on DStv. As October draws to a close, further programming will debut on DStv and GOtv for the remainder of the year and into the first quarter of 2022.
