Film Independent Spirit Awards 2022 Celebrate Independent Films

The film crew becomes wrapped up in the world of independent filmmaking and all the people who follow it. They have a hard time staying objective, but they’re captivated by the stories they hear and see.

A film festival to celebrate independent films.

The Film Independent Spirit Awards 2022 is a festival celebrating independent non-mainstream films in Hollywood. The ceremony was held on a Sunday at the Avalon Theater, an iconic black and white venue with a classic Hollywood style.

The show was hosted by actor Jason Schwartzman and actress/comedian Abbi Jacobson. The show opened with the song “No I Don’t” performed by rock duo Oh Sees. Musical guests were announced throughout the broadcast and included performances by Liz Phair, Natalie Prass, and Kandace Springs. A surprise performance by director David Lynch was aired midway through the show, followed by a performance of the Beastie Boys song “Sabotage” by actor Danny McBride.

Winners of categories include: “Best Female Lead”: Saoirse Ronan for “Mary Queen of Scots,” “Best Male Lead”: Ethan Hawke for “Boy Erased,”

This year for the Film Independent Spirit Awards is the first year that a computer has been nominated for an award. The computer is set up in the auditorium and it asks the audience questions about what they think of its work and if they would want to watch it again.

The audience doesn’t know what a computer is or what it can do and they just assume they will be watching a movie. This freaks out some members of the audience and they walk out. Other members of the audience ask questions back to her, like “What was your favorite film?,” “Did anyone help you make your film?” and “What’s your favorite color?”

Everyone who walks out of the auditorium gets their tickets refunded due to being deemed “uncomfortable” while those who stay at their seats are given free tickets to see live-action films.
